Community Impact

National Alopecia Foundation for People of Color™

An initiative advancing education, research, awareness, advocacy, support and community for people of color living with alopecia and hair loss.

Six commitments

What NAFPOC™ exists to advance.

NAFPOC™ is an initiative of our long-term institutional mission — not a badge on a page. Its work runs alongside the clinic and feeds directly into how we teach, investigate and advocate.

Education

Plain-language education about hair and scalp change, built for the communities most often overlooked.

Research

Encouraging study of conditions — including CCCA and traction-related loss — that are under-represented in the literature.

Awareness

Public campaigns, including our annual August Hair Loss Awareness Month programming.

Advocacy

Advocating for earlier evaluation, better representation, and fairer access to specialist care.

Support

Connecting people to guidance and to one another, so no one investigates alone.

Community

Convening practitioners, patients and families around a shared standard of care.

Why it matters

Some conditions are studied less, and noticed later.

Conditions such as CCCA and traction-related loss are disproportionately experienced by people of color and disproportionately under-represented in research and public education. NAFPOC™ exists to close that distance — earlier evaluation, better information, and a community that takes these changes seriously.

A long-term initiative

Programming is announced as it launches.

Community events, educational partnerships and awareness programming will be published here as each is confirmed.

Begin with an investigation, not a guess.

A conversation is the first step. We will help you understand what may be contributing to the changes you have noticed.
