For Women

Women's hair loss in Houston.

A widening part, a thinner ponytail, more hair in the drain than there used to be. Women are told for years that this is normal — and it may be, but it is still worth understanding.

The picture is usually layered

Hormonal shifts, a pregnancy, a stressful year, thyroid changes, restrictive eating, iron levels, and inherited patterns all influence hair. Rarely does only one of them apply.

That is why we spend the first part of your visit building a timeline. When the change started often narrows the possibilities faster than anything else.

Seeing change honestly

Density is hard to judge in a bathroom mirror. Imaging gives you a documented baseline so that six months from now you are comparing measurements rather than impressions.

You will see your own scalp on screen during the visit and understand what we are pointing at.

Hormonal change, in particular

Perimenopause, menopause, PCOS, endometriosis and starting or changing HRT are among the most common reasons women book with us. Our guide on PCOS, endometriosis and HRT covers this in more depth.

Our role stays investigative: we observe what the scalp shows and coordinate with the physician who manages your care.

Questions

Before you book.

Is postpartum shedding permanent?

Most postpartum shedding settles on its own within several months. When it continues well past that, it is worth investigating whether something else is layered underneath.

Can hormone changes affect hair?

Hormonal change is one of the factors we consider, alongside your history and what the scalp shows. Our PCOS, endometriosis and HRT guide covers this in more depth.

How soon would I see change?

Hair works on growth cycles, so meaningful change is measured in seasons. We set expectations honestly at the first visit.

Should I get blood work before my appointment?

If you already have recent results, bring them. If not, we will tell you what is worth discussing with your physician after we have looked.

I'm on HRT and my hair changed. Should I stop?

Never change prescribed medication because of something you read. Bring it to the investigation and to the physician who prescribed it.

Can I come while wearing extensions or a topper?

Yes, though the clearest look comes with the scalp accessible. Mention it when you book.

Is this only for older women?

No. We see women in their twenties through their seventies, and early investigation generally gives you more to work with.
