Trichology in Houston

A trichologist in Houston, and what one actually does.

Trichology is the study of hair and the scalp. A trichologist's work is observation and investigation: understanding what the hair and scalp are showing, and what may be contributing to it.

What a trichologist looks at

The hair you see is the end of a much longer story. A trichologist reads the scalp surface, the follicle openings, the density and calibre of the strands, and the way changes have progressed over months and years.

Under magnification, the same head of hair tells a far more specific story than it does across a consultation room — which is why imaging and microscopic investigation are part of the visit rather than an add-on.

How trichology differs from a salon or a medical visit

A salon works with the hair you have today. A medical provider addresses medical conditions. Trichology sits between the two: a structured investigation of hair and scalp change, and a restoration pathway built from what we find.

We are Trichologists, not physicians. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions, and when something belongs with a physician, we say so plainly.

Seeing a trichologist in person

The in-person visit at our Northwest Houston clinic is the fullest version of this work, because everything happens in one room: your history, the imaging, the questions you think of halfway through, and the pathway written while you are still sitting there.

If you are outside Greater Houston, a virtual investigation covers history, photographs and pattern review, and many clients later travel in once for imaging.

Questions

Before you book.

Is a trichologist a doctor?

No. Trichologists are specialists in hair and scalp. We investigate and build restoration pathways; we do not diagnose or treat medical conditions.

What should I bring to a trichology appointment?

Photographs over time if you have them, the products you currently use, and any recent lab work. A rough timeline of when you first noticed the change is the most useful thing of all.

How often would I come back?

That depends entirely on your pathway. Reviews are usually spaced in months rather than weeks, because meaningful change is measured in growth cycles.

Do you work alongside my dermatologist?

Yes, and we encourage it. A documented scalp baseline is useful to everyone involved in your care.

Can a trichologist help if my hair loss is genetic?

An investigation still matters. Inherited patterns often sit alongside other contributing factors, and knowing which is which changes what makes sense for you.

Do you see men as well as women?

Yes. Men, women and teens are all seen at the clinic, across every hair texture.
